“Waterkeeper Alliance is proud to welcome our new Yellow Dog Riverkeeper program. The Yellow Dog Riverkeeper will serve as an investigator, advocate, scientist, educator, lawyer, and local protector of the Yellow Dog and Salmon-Trout Rivers in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan” said Cheryl Nenn, Milwaukee Riverkeeper and Waterkeeper Alliance Board Member. “Waterkeepers enforce environmental laws, patrol our waterways, and protect our communities. Given increasing pressure from mining and logging companies, there has never been a bigger need for a strong advocate protecting the Yellow Dog and Salmon-Trout Rivers in the UP” Nenn said. Yellow Dog Riverkeeper joins 181 other Waterkeepers throughout the World that take personal responsibility for their local waterways—elevating our campaign for clean water and healthy communities to a national and international level.
