There will be an information fair and sulfide mining rally in the ballroom of UPFRONT and COMPANY on September 4th in Marquette. UPFRONT is located one block south of downtown Marquette at 102 E. Main St.
We will be having live music, a cash bar, inspirational speakers and hoping that all coalition groups will host a table containing information pertinent to this issue and any other work that they are doing.
Schedule of Events:
5:30 to 6:30 Public Hearing Workshop
NWF, Michigan Environmental Council and Sierra Club hosting a workshop outlining the issues and how to give effective public comment at the upcoming DEQ/DNR Public Hearings
6:30 to 9:30 Information Fair and Rally
Free and open to the public, this is an opportunity for all to get the information they need to understand the issues and importance of public participation in the DEQ/DNR Public Hearings taking place the following week. There will be tables available for groups to hand out materials, sell t-shirts, whatever.
All donations taken at the door will go to the coalition for their continued work on this issue.
UPFRONT is donating the space and I am sure they would appreciate all eating there before or after the event.
Please forward to all members of your groups and let us get the people informed and to the Public Hearings!
We are encouraging all groups to focus on the 1st public hearing - September 10th at the NMU University Center 6:00 pm for a mass walk-in to the hearings.
We may not all be able to speak at that hearing - but getting the people there will speak the necessary volumes.
WE MUST DO IT! Be there.
