Public Outings
The Yellow Dog Watershed Preserve has been hosting public outings in the watershed since its inception in 1995. Whatever the season, we find a reason to get outdoors and enjoy what we are working to preserve. Most of the events begin at 10am on Saturdays and we meet in Big Bay to carpool to our area. Check out the Current Events to see what is upcoming!
It's true. We love winter and the massive amounts of snow. It makes for excellent backcountry skiing, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing in some of the usually hidden areas of the watershed.
Come summer, come the bugs! But we get out anyway. We conducting birding events, hiking, backpacking, and maybe even some berry picking.
Fall is a great time to have color hikes along the river and observe wildlife getting ready for the snow. We also have paddling events on Lake Independence early in the fall.
Typically, in the spring, we call on members and the community to join us on hikes to see the spring melt turn the river into a wild rush of waterfalls and high water.
Our goal is to get our members and the public out and in the watershed so take advantage of these fun events!
